River Park is a small and relatively isolated neighborhood just north of and adjoining east Sacramento. River Park has very little through traffic, a feature its residents value for creating a feeling of safety and community. Easy access to the beaches on the American river makes it an ideal escape from the summer heat and a great neighborhood for outdoor enthusiasts. Houses are typically ranch style and a little larger than older east Sacramento homes. River Park has several popular restaurants: Mamma Susanna’s, an Italian restaurant, Rooster’s Breakfast and Mimosas, and the Coconut River Park. The large Glenn Hall Park is popular with families and has an easily-accessed neighborhood pool. Caleb Greenwood Elementary is the much-cherished neighborhood elementary school. As an international baccalaureate (IB) primary years school, students have the option of continuing into the middle years and diploma program at nearby Kit Carson international baccalaureate or another local middle and high school.
